Are screw-drive door openers better than chain-drive types?

However, chain drive door openers also offer advantages especially when it comes to the price. The eventual chain sagging is an issue but it can be easily addressed.

Is the non-illumination of the photoeyes indicative of a defect?

Not necessarily. The indicator LED of the photoeyes may stop lighting up or blink successively if there is misalignment. Consider realigning it to see if it returns to normal. However, the best test is to do an actual safety reverse test. The LED indicator is useless if the safety reverse feature does not actually work.

What is rolling code technology?

This technology is featured in most garage door openers today. Practically all brands have adopted it.
